The World Cup begins in 100 days in the USA, Mexico and Canada. There are at least 100 open questions. Nobody is interested in the sport that is most interesting right now.

Marcus Bark

The third month of the year has now begun, and on the third day of the third month there are only 100 days left until the World Cup begins.

Just as a door on the calendar is opened every day before Christmas from December 1st, one important question could be asked per day before the start of the tournament.

What effects do “travel bans” have?

For example, whether Ivory Coast fans will be allowed to travel from their home country to the USA to support their team in the games against Curacao and Ecuador Philadelphia to support. Finally, US President Donald Trump a “Travel Ban“, i.e. entry bans or sometimes strict restrictions, have been imposed on Ivory Coast nationals. However, the exact effects remain open.

What is certain these days?

The Ivory Coast also plays against the German team and since this game will be played in Toronto, Canada, the fans from Africa seem to be guaranteed a visa.

But what is certain these days? Is Trump really giving up Greenland? What happens if Denmark moves into… Playoffs qualified?

Will the intercontinental playoffs be held in Mexico as planned, even though a war is raging between the drug cartels there and with the state?

The really big question: What will become of Iran?

Just like opening the big doors on Christmas Eve, there are also the big questions right now, and they deal with Iran and the war in the Persian Gulf. Will Iran come to the World Cup after US and Israeli attacks? Maybe he will be excluded? And if Iran doesn’t take part, which team will move up?

Are the fans safe?

To fill a few more doors, there are the questions: Are the fans safe, who would be allowed entry quite easily, for example from Germany? Is Trump keeping his ICE immigration squads in check?

Visa ban due to Social media posts?

What does the USA require for entry? Really check them Social media accounts the applicant, and what happens if someone wrote that Donald Trump is a racist who wants to lead the USA into a dictatorship?

When is the right time for one? Boycott discussion?

Should the German Football Association boycott the World Cup? This question would, for example, fit into the door on June 6th, because that is when the national team with national coach Julian Nagelsmann plays Chicago against the USA. However, it would probably be too late for a serious discussion on the issue.

So – around March 6th or so – the door could be opened with the question of when is the right time for the discussion. In mid-January, when DFB Vice President Oke Göttlich wanted to initiate the discussion, he was criticized for, among other things.

And what does the DFB say about it?

President Bernd Neuendorf said now was not the right time to have a boycott discussion. He didn’t say when that time would be. And since then nothing substantial has been heard from the DFB about the whole issue.

Andreas Rettig, the sports director, admitted that he wasn’t really looking forward to it. This has to do with the unrest in Mexico.

Fifa

The venues of the 2026 World Cup

What is happening in the USA and what FIFA President Gianni Infantino This is what the DFB is saying. Why? This question also fits behind a door on the calendar.

Who cares about international law anymore?

Who gave Infantino the mandate to join the Peace Council, a private circle of the US president that competes with the United Nations, a long-established body that, among other things, promotes compliance with international law?

But who cares about international law these days? That would be a sarcastic question that should be followed by light food in the next door. Maybe: Who will be world champion?

But there’s no rush, nobody’s interested at the moment anyway.
