There were already centers for domestic violence and child abuse in Rotterdam, Tilburg and Groningen. Amsterdam now joins this trend, with the first center in the West.

According to manager Kimberley van den Berg, why it is so important that the center is there now cannot be seen separately from the alarming figures. “We see in the media and in scientific research that a woman still dies every eight days due to violence,” she says. “It’s really important that we get those numbers down and, in an ideal world, get them all the way to zero.”

Location

The center is located next to the Center for Sexual Violence. This was not a conscious choice, but it fits together well. “Unfortunately, we see that sexual violence is a factor in many situations of domestic and child abuse,” says Van den Berg.

People can walk in every Tuesday and Thursday without an appointment. Only between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM. Kimberly calls out: “Whether you are a victim, counselor or perpetrator. If you need help or advice, you are welcome.”
