KUWAIT CITY (dpa-AFX) – The military of the Gulf state of Kuwait has reported the first death in its own ranks since Iranian counterattacks began in the region. A marine died in the line of duty in a “military operation” today, the Kuwaiti army’s chief of staff said. Details about where and how exactly the soldier died were not given.
Since the American-Israeli attacks in Iran, Tehran has responded by attacking targets in the Gulf states, including civilian targets and US military bases. There have already been several attacks in Kuwait that have killed at least one person and injured dozens more. On Monday morning, several US military aircraft crashed in Kuwait due to so-called “friendly fire”, i.e. accidental shelling – the crew survived./jot/DP/jha
