Train traffic between Meppel and Steenwijk is temporarily halted due to a collision on the track.
This happened just before 4 p.m. It is not known exactly what happened.
The train in question comes to a standstill just after the level crossing at Onna. According to a spokesperson for the NS, the passengers are still on the train. “We are still looking at how we can get the people out of there.”
Travelers between Meppel and Leeuwarden must take delays into account due to the collision. The NS expects that train traffic can be resumed by 7 p.m. Until then, buses may be used between Meppel and Steenwijk, but this bus transport has yet to get going.
