Domen Prevc dominates the ski jumping World Cup like perhaps only his older brother Peter before him. He already has his sights set on a brother’s record, but the “Domenator” could also break other records – including those of real ski jumping icons.

Ski flying on the legendary Kulm became the next big Domen Prevc show. The Slovenian lightweight not only sailed to a hill record of 245 meters in Bad Mitterndorf, improving his brother Peter’s record from 2016 by one meter.

With his 13th win of the season, Domen Prevc equaled Gregor Schlierenzauer’s mark from the World Cup winter of 2008/09 for the most wins in a season. Only Peter Prevc won more jumping in a World Cup winter, and in 2015/16 only Peter Prevc. A record that Domen Prevc in its current form should break with eight competitions still to come.

Prevc can claim one record in Lathi next weekend – that of the series winner. At the Kulm he triumphed in the World Cup for the sixth time in a row. A feat that only legends like Janne Ahonen, Matti Hautamäki, Thomas Morgenstern, Gregor Schlierenzauer and Ryoyu Kobayashi had previously achieved.

A record by Peter Prevc could remain despite “Domenator”. “Peter the Great” collected a total of 2,303 points in the 2015/16 season, Domen has 1,814 points after 22 of 30 competitions. However, that is not ruled out either.

Ski jumping: Domen Prevc has a record lead

Domen Prevc could receive the big crystal ball of the overall World Cup winner at the end of the season with the largest lead in history. This record is also still held by Brother Beter, who was 813 points ahead of his first “chaser” in his record winter. Domen is already 693 points ahead of Ryoyu Kobayashi from Japan.

Domen Prevc already holds the ski flying world record of 254.5 meters: he could even surpass himself in the flies in Vikersund and Planica. At the Olympics, the 26-year-old won gold on the large hill and in the mixed team.
