A drastic claim made the rounds on social networks over the weekend: Iconic director Quentin Tarantino died in an Iranian missile attack in the Tel Aviv area.

The renowned news agency Reuters was even named as the alleged source on the “X” platform. There is currently no evidence for this report. Nevertheless, various illustrated “stories” about the alleged attack circulated.

The starting point was apparently a viral tweet with a photo that is supposed to show Tarantino in a shelter. The dramatic caption speculated about his “last film” – staged like a macabre end credits. In fact, there were deaths in Israel over the weekend from uninterrupted missiles. However, there is no confirmation of a rocket attack on the filmmaker.

No evidence of the director’s death

The 61-year-old has had close ties to Israel for years. After the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, Tarantino visited a military base in the south of the country to provide moral support to soldiers. Images of this were shown in the media around the world – and may have provided the basis for new speculation.

Tarantino’s wife, Israeli singer Daniella Pick, said in December 2025, according to Israeli broadcaster Channel 12, that her husband had never considered leaving Israel – despite previous attacks on Tel Aviv. There is no verified evidence of injuries or even his death.
Tarantino has been married to Pick since 2018. The two met in 2009 during the Israeli promotional tour of “Inglourious Basterds”. The couple reportedly commutes between Tel Aviv and Los Angeles; their children were born in Israel.

Disinformation in times of conflict

The current rumor about his alleged death appears to be part of a wave of disinformation that occurs again and again in times of escalating conflicts – another example of how quickly false reports surrounding prominent names spread virally.
