The transfer of the Finn still has many twists and turns.

Patrik Laine is playing his second season with the Montreal Canadiens. The Finnish striker’s time in Canada has been marred by injuries. PDO

Montreal Canadiens Patrik Laine has been tipped to change scenery before the NHL transfer deadline on March 6.

Experienced hockey reporter for TVA Sports in Montreal Renauld Lavoie however, toppling those who consider the move likely.

– If he was being traded now, it would have already been done. The situation is deteriorating, not many teams are interested in his services. It remains to be seen what happens with him, Lavoie says.

Laine, who earns $8.7 million, is entering the final season of his contract. Fresh displays are missing, as the man from Tesoma only had time to play in five matches in the fall before his bad injury.

Laine has returned to the Canadiens’ practice squad, but the man has not yet been seen in games.

Lavoie estimates that a transfer to another NHL team would require a domino that would change the Finnish position on the market during the current week.

– Teams may lose significant players by Friday and have to settle for players who are not so expensive. Laine could suddenly become a good candidate.

– But such a trade does not exist at the moment. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but we have to prepare for the idea that Laine might end the season with the Canadiens, Lavoie insists.
