Arsenal FC celebrated an important victory in the comeback of national player Kai Havertz. The Gunners won the London derby against Chelsea FC 2-1 (1-1) and remain five points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. However, Pep Guardiola’s team played one game less.
DFB star Havertz came on as a substitute for Viktor Gyökeres against the Blues in the 76th minute. The 26-year-old, who had been out for a long time at the start of the season following knee surgery, had been out since February 12th with muscular problems.
William Saliba gave the Gunners the lead (21st). An own goal from ex-Leverkusen player Piero Hincapie led to Chelsea’s equalizer (45th + 2). Jurrien Timber made it 2-1 (66th). Chelsea played outnumbered from the 70th minute onwards. Pedro Neto saw yellow-red within just three minutes.
Manchester City had previously completed its mandatory task in the title race without the ailing striker Erling Haaland. City defeated newly promoted Leeds United with German team manager Daniel Farke 1-0 (1-0) away.
