Mika Häkkinen was watching hockey.

Mika Häkkinen won 20 competitions in his career. He celebrated the F1 championships at the end of the 1998 and 1999 seasons. PDO

In the ICEHL league ice hockey match between Vienna Capitals and Fehérvár AV19 on Friday night, a real motorsport legend was seen on the ice.

The host team, the Finnish giant wearing the jersey of the Vienna Capitals, the 1998 and 1999 world champion Mika Häkkinen stepped onto the ice before the start of the match.

Häkkinen went to drop the starting puck of the match. When the two-time world champion stepped onto the ice, he received a standing ovation.

After dropping the puck, Häkkinen shook hands with the team captains and left the ice with the game equipment.

The match itself offered entertainment for all the money to the spectators who arrived.

The match progressed in a 3–3 tie until the winning goal competition, where the solution was seen in the first possible solution point. Home team Vienna Linden Way finished the third round as the last shot to lead the hosts to victory.

There was only one Finn in the teams’ lineups, when the away team’s goal was blocked by a player familiar from the SM league Rasmus Reijola.

However, Reijola was not the most famous Finn at the event.

Vienna secured home advantage for the first playoff round with their win. Vienna is seventh or eighth in the regular season.
