Tennis ball throws: HSV fans cause the game to be interrupted

There was a fan protest during the Bundesliga game between HSV and RB Leipzig. The supporters once again threw tennis balls.
Hamburger SV fans threw tennis balls to interrupt the Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig. Shortly after the game kicked off at the end of the 24th match day, supporters threw yellow felt balls onto the pitch from the north stand. However, the game was only interrupted for a short time. Apparently the protest was directed against the late kick-off time of 7.30 p.m., as a banner in the block suggested.
“We are clearly committed to kick-off times that are suitable for fans and call on the DFL to stop the further fragmentation of match days. In addition, the agreed rules should be adhered to and not misused for marketing purposes,” wrote the Nordtribüne support group a few days ago.
Games are often played on Sundays to relieve the pressure on teams active in the European Cup. The fans see a background of the late games, among other things, for marketing purposes. Similar tennis ball campaigns occurred more frequently in 2024 when fans of several clubs used them to protest against investors’ entry into professional football.
