HSV started bravely at the beginning and then scored the 1-0 through Fábio Vieira just at the phase in which RB was slowly getting better. Leipzig remained focused after conceding a goal and came back in the 36th minute with a dream goal from Rômulo to equalize 1-1. Since then, RB has been in control and was even close to turning the game around before the half-time whistle.
