Flemish couple stranded on cruise ship near Abu Dhabi due to bombings in the region: “We hope to get back to Belgium safely soon”

Geert Dermaux and Chantal Damarey from Varsenare, a sub-municipality of Jabbeke, are stuck on a cruise ship that is currently anchored in Abu Dhabi. Due to the recent attacks in the region and the closure of the airports, they were unable to start their planned return journey to Belgium. “We’re waiting. We don’t know at all when we can go home.” The couple is traveling with two other people. According to them, there are about 2,000 to 2,500 passengers on board in total.
