A disappointed Saga Vanninen did not give interviews in the SM halls. He told about his difficulties in just a short message.
Saga Vanninen was understandably disappointed on Sunday. The world champion is not at his peak level, and the situation did not change in the WC indoor games.
Vanninen did not arrive at the media interview point all weekend. On Sunday, after his last event, the 60-meter hurdles, he felt really disappointed and left the competition venue completely.
On Sunday evening, however, Vanninen conveyed brief comments through the spokesperson of the Finnish Sports Federation.
– The goal was to be in better shape. The Rhine load is no longer below. I can’t really say why it doesn’t work. Places intact, Vanninen wrote.
Vanninen will go to the World Indoor Championships in March as the defending pentathlon world champion. However, the current hall period has not gone smoothly for the Finns.
Vanninen has only competed in individual sports during the current reign. In 200 meters he ran his record 25.04.
It has been more difficult in other sports. In the high jump, Vanninen’s best result of the current indoor season is 170 (record 181), in the long jump 602 (record indoors 652, outdoors 649) and in the 60-meter hurdles 8.43 seconds (8.19).
In the Espoo SM halls, the height and high speed hurdles were worse than the season’s best results. Vanninen pushed the ball to 14.67 meters on Saturday, while his record is 16.12 meters.
The World Indoor Championships will be held in Poland on the 20th-22nd. March.
