The much-discussed move of the Gerard Joling soap from Friday to Saturday evening has been completed. What is the effect on the viewing figures? TV authority Tina Nijkamp obviously knows…
Gerard Joling has been asked about it a lot in interviews in recent weeks: the move of his soap Only Joling from Friday to Saturday evening. At the old time there was no longer room for Geer, because The Voice of Holland has now returned to all the noise. And that is why his soap opera is now scheduled a day later.
Geer collapsed?
The move was exciting for Geer, because he now faces a mega competitor for the first time, namely the TV classic Wie is de Mol. Has he collapsed now?
TV authority Tina Nijkamp writes on her analysis channel that the powerful competitor has indeed won. “Wie is de Mol is, as expected, the big winner of the day: 1.747 million viewers. A very nice score, but the lowest start in many years.”
Cautious start
How did Wie is de Mol get started before? “The previous season last November (the anniversary season) even recorded a higher start with 1.832 million viewers for the first. Last January the start (Stijn de Vries turned out to be de Mol) recorded more than 2.1 million viewers.”
And what about Geer? “Gerard Joling was the surprising ratings king of Friday evening last spring. He started with 1.119 million viewers. Now RTL4 has moved him to Saturday evening. How did that go? Gerard does lose something, but the damage remains limited: a nice 920 thousand viewers.”
SBS 6 disappoints
SBS 6 has withdrawn on Saturday evening. “SBS 6 left NPO 1 and RTL 4 completely free (a new Saturday evening show only starts there on March 16 at 8 p.m.) and broadcast a cabaret registration.”
“It used to always be good for good figures, but now they are almost never big hits anymore: only 298 thousand viewers for Bert Visscher and his Dat Je Een Another Niet Doen.”
