The innovative and elegant 14-metre vessel from the Ferretti Group brand was the protagonist of the Miami Boat Show in the new version with four powerful engines at the stern, which allow speeds close to 100 km/h
Among the many aspects that have made Wally famous in the nautical world, perhaps the most important is the ability to change scores when everything seems accomplished. Last year, Ferretti Group has completed the acquisition of the brand founded by Luca Bassani Bar in 1994: he was mainly responsible for the stylistic and technical revolution that changed the concept of yachts by creating incredible sailing and motor boats, which have become points of reference in the world of boating and design. Wallypower is one of the many icons of the brand: when it appeared in 2002 – with the version 11836 meters long – shocked fans and critics as the futuristic shapes were reminiscent of a small combat ship or the boat from a new James Bond film. Instead it was a new way of motor sailing, which led to many imitations. Like the innovative charge of wallypower50Xwhich conquered the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show – scene of the world premiere – will not go unnoticed. It is the first time that outboard propulsion has entered the Wally range, in this specific case that of Mercury. With four Verado V10 from 425 HP each one reaches a maximum speed of 50 knots (90 km/h) which drops to 34 knots in cruise. Alternatively, the four Mercury Racing V8 from 500 HP the one bring the performance up to 54 knots of maximum speed, i.e. just under 100 km/h.

The wallypower50X inherits the iconic character and lines that have made the wallypower family famous: vertical bow, sharp profile and glass surfaces that blend aesthetics and functionality. The completely hidden anchoring system contributes to an essential and clean image even with the boat at anchor. The hull measures 14.6 meters and 13.4 at the waterline, with a maximum width of 4.3 meters and a draft of 1.3 metres. The empty displacement is 12.9 tons. There is no shortage of geniuses magic portholes: considering that the side openings usually ruin the aesthetic purity of the hull, it was decided to remove them completely and to install on each side of the boat a camera with 4K resolution (on the model of those that some premium manufacturers mount on their more expensive cars) and gimbal stabilization. The two cameras are connected to two screens mounted on the starboard and port side of the lounge, creating a wide external view despite the absence of portholes. In this way less maintenance is required and there is no risk of damaging the glass during “English” mooring along the quay.

The foldable stern walls expand the living surface by over 5 m2, creating a space in direct contact with the sea. On deck, two generous sundecks and a dining area for eight people under the protection of the glass structure redefine conviviality on board. The layout favors an informal use of the spaces, with a seating area and kitchenette designed for a dynamic and relaxed life on board. Below deck, the wallypower50X maintains the range’s high standards of comfort and quality: double bed, lounge area and bathroom with separate shower, making the vessel ideal for short-term living. But this is only one of the potential “souls” of the boat which has a historical plus such as the hull design, developed by the synergy between the Wally team and the Ferretti Group Engineering, which guarantees stability, control and driving pleasure even at the highest speeds.
