On through NRC Verified images show the consequences of Israeli-American bombings that were carried out this Saturday on a neighborhood in the Iranian capital Tehran. Buildings in the Narmak district are in ruins and fires have broken out. Several cars were burned out.

Former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (2005-2013) is said to live on the square shown in the images. Photos of him from 2014 show him in front of his home at this location. The New York Times has verified images which would show the square being hit by a rocket. It is unclear whether Ahmadinejad was in the building at the time.

Verified earlier today NRC images showing the roof blown off a girls’ school in Minab, in the south of the country. The death toll from that bombing rose to at least 108 on Saturday evening – the majority were children. That’s what the Financial Times based on local authorities. The newspaper reports that Iranian TV showed images of school desks under the rubble and of mothers screaming for help in the schoolyard.

About 170 students were present in the school building hit by Israeli-American attacks on Saturday morning, a local administrator said. More than 92 people were injured, and an unknown number are still under the rubble of the collapsed building. Rescue workers are still busy cleaning up the damage. The Iranian Foreign Ministry calls it a ‘war crime’. The US takes reports of civilian casualties “seriously”, an army spokesman told the newspaper FT.
