According to Westhoek Fire Department, the fire brigade was called to the incident at 6:20 p.m. Twelve injured people, including one seriously injured person, are currently being treated by several ambulances and a MUG team. The victims were taken to several hospitals.
Westhoek Fire Department: “To coordinate the emergency services, operational coordination was declared, so that the various emergency services can tackle the situation together.”
Tram traffic was completely stopped and the Kaai in Nieuwpoort was closed to all traffic.
