The cross-country skiing world cup continues after the Olympics this weekend in Falun, Sweden. On Saturday, it’s the women’s and men’s freestyle sprint competition.
Finland is represented on the women’s side by Jasmi Joensuu, Jasmin Kähärä, Hilla Niemelä, Tiia Olkkonen and Vilma Ryytty. In the men’s team are Emil LiekariJoni Mäki, Niilo Moilanen, Lauri Vuorinen, Juuso Haarala and Ike Melnitz.
On Friday, it was announced that Kerttu Niskanen and Johanna Matintalo will not participate in the competition. According to the skiing association, Matintalo’s back has not yet returned to full skiing condition and he wants to invest in the Salpausselkä Games in Lahti.
The reason for Niskanen’s absence was not given.
The qualifiers start at 2 p.m. and the heats at 4:30 p.m.
