For the Midwest region, this means an additional reduction of 1.8 million euros, on top of a previous saving of 0.6 million euros. This amounts to a decrease of 11% of the operating budget, while the average saving at Flemish level is 3.7%. This decision therefore hits the Midwest region considerably harder than other regions. Moreover, in 2026, with a budget of 16.9 million euros, Midwest already has the lowest operating budget of all Flemish transport regions.
