The German national soccer team is currently training for their World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Norway. Klara Bühl is aware of her role – she is required to be a goal threat, which was often missing in the Nations League final.
The women’s national soccer team can currently work on the “World Cup Project” for a whole week. The World Cup will take place in Brazil in June and July 2027 – things are already getting serious for the German DFB team. Because the first qualifying game against Slovenia awaits on Tuesday. In Dresden, the team wants to lay the foundation around the FC Bayern axis Klara Bühl and Giulia Gwinn. Four days later we continue against the strong Norwegians.
At the training camp in Frankfurt, coaches and players want to get into the World Cup flow. In purely atmospheric terms, the team is experiencing its first successes: “There was a lot of laughter, there was a good atmosphere,” said Bühl: “You could just tell that we were looking forward to what was to come, that of course we knew what the games were about, but that we were also starting the year with a certain lightness.”
Klara Bühl: “Can ensure efficiency in front of goal”
They now want to come to terms with the defeat in the Nations League final against Spain with ease. Despite the superiority, the DFB team failed at that time, there was no lack of chances, the problem was the exploitation. The goalscoring Bühl from FCB also knows the construction site: “I obviously believe that I can ensure efficiency in front of the goal, there’s no need to talk about it now, that will be a key issue in the end, we offensive players are partly responsible for simply taking the next step.” Football legend Alexandra Popp also has a lot of confidence in the Munich native, as she said in an RND podcast: “The only one who really often caused a goal threat was Klara Bühl with her individual actions.”
The last trophy was a few years ago: Germany was European champion eight times, world champion twice, plus the Olympic gold medal in 2016. But no other title has been added since then.
