After the surprising exit in the cup semi-finals last Saturday, the basketball players of FC Bayern Munich also suffered their next setback in the EuroLeague.
At the top Spanish club Real Madrid, coach Svetislav Pesic’s team lost clearly 70:93 (33:53).
With now 12 wins and 17 defeats, reaching the knockout rounds is becoming increasingly unrealistic for the Munich team. The team is currently in 15th place, four wins behind the last play-in place. There are nine games left in the league phase.
The Munich team were inferior to Real, especially offensively. In the meantime, the hosts took a decisive lead with an 11-0 run. Although Bayern found their way into the game a little better in the second quarter, they had nothing to counter the Spaniards in the second half.
In the absence of world champion Andreas Obst, the American Justinian Jessup was the guests’ best scorer with 17 points.
