Elias Kofler from HSV Hamburg (on the ball) in a duel with keeper Constantin Möstl from TBV Lemgo Lippe.

As of: February 26, 2026 • 9:02 p.m

TBV Lemgo Lippe earned a win against HSV Hamburg and remains on course for the European Cup.

After the bitter defeat at the Rhein-Neckar Löwen a week ago, coach Florian Kehrmann’s team prevailed on Thursday evening with 39:32 (18:15) and consolidated fifth place in the table with their 16th win of the season. Hamburg remains tenth. The best thrower for East Westphalia was Tim Suton with ten hits, while Nicolaj Jorgensen scored seven for Hamburg.

Interim Four goal lead for TBV

After a foul on Lukas Hutecek, Lemgo got their first penalty after a minute and a half of the game, which Samuel Zehnder converted to make it 1-0. The TBV patiently finished their attacks and, after a balanced initial phase, also became stronger in defense. After winning the ball, Zehnder completed a counterattack (10th minute of the game) with the goal to make it 7:4, before extending the lead to four goals with a penalty throw in the 12th minute (8:4).

HSV had a hard time dealing with the Lemgo defense and kept losing the ball. Behind the solid TBV defense, keeper Constantin Möstl provided strong support, making five saves after 17 minutes.

But the TBV’s throwing efficiency decreased and the East Westphalia team went almost six minutes without scoring their own goal. There were also more gaps in the TBV defense, so that the guests came within two goals again (12:10/24.). After Lemgo took a break, things went better again at the front, Zehnder (25th) restored the four-goal gap. With a throw from his own half, Lemgo’s Frederik Simak scored at the half-time siren to make the score 18:15 at halftime.

Lemgo keeps Hamburg at a distance

After the half-time break, Hamburg got off to a better start. Jacob Arenth Lassen (37th) brought the guests within one goal (21:20), before the home team was able to pull away again with a 3-0 run thanks to goals from Zehnder (2) and Bobby Schagen (24:20/41st). The TBV then kept the guests at bay, but Hamburg could not be shaken off.

After a brilliant save from Möstl in a one-on-one duel with Hamburg’s Niklas Weller, Hendrik Wagner (54th) scored on the other side to make it 32:27 and give Lemgo its first five-goal lead. HSV took another time out, but Lemgo remained confident and Hamburg’s strength was visibly weakening. This meant that the TBV was able to further increase its lead and get through the last few minutes in a relaxed manner.

Next week West duel in Gummersbach

The TBV will play the West duel at VfL Gummersbach next Thursday (05.03./7 p.m.). Hamburg will play against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf on the Friday after next (March 13th/7 p.m.).
