Iceland brings forward referendum on EU accession due to tensions in the Arctic

Iceland will hold a referendum sometime “in the coming months” on resuming accession talks with the European Union, Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir said. The island was actually not supposed to hold the referendum until 2027, but according to international media, tensions in the Arctic are reason to bring it forward.
