Youp van ‘t Hek thinks it is unethical that Peter van der Vorst continues to offer the controversial Bellinga vlogging family a platform. “Why does he want to broadcast this rubbish?” the former comedian asks.
Daniel and Fara Bellinga have been making family vlogs for many years, but recently they have come under more fire than ever. They are on a long world trip with their children and have visited a slum in South Africa. The way they talk about the locals sounds like they are walking around in a zoo. “They’re not shy at all!”
Terrifying parents
Frank Dane told the RTL Boulevard desk that he does not understand why YouTube continues to broadcast the Bellinga’s family vlogs and Albert Verlinde opened the attack at RTL Tonight, but are they also taking their own initiative at RTL? No, they decide that the Bellinga’s films will simply remain on Videoland.
Youp van ‘t Hek finds this incomprehensible. How does he describe those Bellingas? “Those scary parents who beat the hell out of their children. Salads? Tons of them. Maybe millions,” he writes in the VARA guide.
Absolute shame
Youp finds it laughable that RTL, in particular, rails against the Bellingas. “I also find it funny that this criticism was leveled at RTL 4, while Videoland, which is owned by RTL, broadcasts this child abuse.”
He continues: “Many words have been said about this embarrassing revenue model. Every right-thinking person who sees that couple working with those pathetic children says something about it. But it doesn’t help anything.”
Unethical Peter
Youp himself once used his 9-year-old nephew for a fun TV moment. “For those five minutes of television, his parents and I had to shout ourselves hoarse to get permission from Child Protection. It was a maximum of three minutes of television.”
He concludes: “Why is it allowed now? And why does Peter van der Vorst, who is always very ethical on stage, want to broadcast this rubbish? I bet I won’t get an answer to that?”
