After measurements in an apartment on Citerstraat in Purmerend, it appears that too high a concentration of formaldehyde was found in four homes, the municipality says. The measurements were taken because housing association Interimaris has insulated the walls with UF foam. The TV program Zembla and the GGD investigated this, after which the GGD yesterday strongly advised against using the material in construction.

The investigation into the high concentration of the gas started in 2024 and continued into 2025, just after the renovation of the apartment. There are now letters in the elevator and at the entrance asking people to watch the broadcast, because there is a lot of frustration about the measurements in the apartment.

Measurements in homes

Like with Thomas Mihaly. He still remembers the holes being drilled in his wall and the foam being injected into them. “Afterwards it had hardened and there was a thick slice inside.” Let him know. Because he was very happy with his renovated home, he left it as it was and cleaned up the white foam. Only later were measurements taken in his home. Interim Housing Association says that no high concentrations have been measured at his home, but Thomas says he has only received a general email.
