Daniëlle van de Donk is back with the Dutch national team after seven months. The 34-year-old midfielder from Valkenswaard trained with the Dutch team for the first time in Zeist on Wednesday since the European Football Championship in Switzerland last year.

The Brabant player was sidelined for a long time due to a knee injury. Van de Donk only made her debut for her new club London City Lionesses in January, for which she was accurate last Monday.

After the European Championship, there were doubts about her future in the Dutch team, Van de Donk had indicated to the new national coach Arjan Veurink.

Those doubts are now gone. “I feel that I am not finished in the Dutch team yet. I think I can add something nice to this team,” Van de Donk said when announcing her return.

Two qualifying matches
Van de Donk is preparing for two World Cup qualifiers with the Dutch national team. The Dutch team will first play the away game against Poland on March 3 and will play a home game against Ireland on March 7.

The Football World Cup will take place in 2027 and will be held in Brazil. Van de Donk and Oranje did not get through the group stage at the last European Championship.
