The active BVB fan scene is boycotting the Champions League game in Bergamo and is making serious allegations against the authorities.
The active fan scene of Borussia Dortmund has announced that he will stay away from Borussia’s away game on Wednesday. In a statement, she complained that fans were being prevented from leaving the country by the federal police at German airports. It goes on to say that this led to a “gauntlet of bans or requirements”. The federal police have not yet commented on the allegations when asked by WDR.
The club and fans clearly criticize the measures
“According to our information, it was even enough to have clothing or stickers typical of the fan scene to end up in the sights of the police. This whole procedure ultimately culminated in the fact that other Borussia players who were already in Italy were even visited by the Italian police in their accommodation,” says the fans’ statement.
BVB stated on its website that it was aware of the actions of the federal police and the Italian authorities. However, the club is not aware of “any detailed background information”. The club also stated that it had not been informed of the procedure in advance and was more than surprised by the measures.
Lawsuit announced in court
“BVB is seeking contact in order to obtain more detailed information on the background and legal basis of the measures, which are in no way understandable for the club,” the club said. The Dortmund team regretted that a large part of the active groups will be missing in Bergamo. Coach Niko Kovac explained: “This is now a matter for Lars Ricken and Carsten Cramer. As far as I know, we still have a lot of support. Of course it’s a shame if a few people are excluded.”
The Black and Yellow fan scene announced that they would be filing a lawsuit with the administrative courts with the support of Fanhilfe. Planned measures surrounding the game had already caused discussions: Atalanta Bergamo wanted to deny ticket buyers from Dortmund entry into the stadium, but gave in under pressure from BVB and reversed their decision.
