Italy is watching the German U21 goalscorer

He became European runner-up with the German U21 team last summer. But which country Nicolò Tresoldi will play for in the future remains unclear. In any case, Italy continues to have him in focus.
Will he play for Italy in the future or will he remain loyal to the German association? Nicolò Tresoldi has been attracting attention with good performances since his move from Hannover 96 to Champions League club Brugge. The German U21 international, who was born in Cagliari, Italy, is also making himself interesting for the senior national team. Namely for Germany and Italy, for which he would also be eligible to play.
Last October, the DFB talent appeared open to a possible change of association in an interview with “Sky Sports Italia”. When asked about a future in the jersey of the Italian senior national team, Tresoldi said: “The rules allow it, and my phone is on. If Gattuso (Italian national coach, editor) would like to speak to me, I would be very happy. But at the moment I’m playing for Germany, I’ve decided to do so, even if it’s only for the U21s. I feel very comfortable. We’ll see in the future.”
As “Sport Bild” now reports, the Italian association is now actively trying to find the attacker. Last week during the 3-3 draw in the first leg of the Champions League play-offs between Bruges and Atlético Madrid, those responsible and scouts from Squadra Azzurra sat in the stands to watch the 21-year-old. Tresoldi scored in the game to make it 2-2 and left a strong impression.
But: There hasn’t been any contact with Gattusso yet, Tresoldi said in an interview with the weekend supplement of the “Gazzetta dello Sport”: “At least I scored two goals in the Champions League. A call, even if just to get to know each other, would have been nice. That means that I have to do even more.”
And further: “I decided to play for Germany years ago. They showed me a perspective and I immediately felt valued.”
Numerous European clubs are also watching his development. He still has a contract in Bruges until 2029. His market value is now 10 million euros. Last summer he moved from Hanover to Belgium for 7.5 million euros.
In 43 competitive games for Bruges, he scored 13 goals and prepared four more goals. He previously reached the European Championship final with the German U21s, which ended 2-3 after extra time against England.
