DFB appoints active Bremen to the national team for the first time

The 23-year-old attacker Larissa Mühlhaus is writing club history for the Green-Whites. She is about to make her international debut in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
For the first time, the German Football Association has an active female player Werder Bremen appointed to the squad of the German national football team. The 23-year-old attacker Larissa Mühlhaus replaces the injured Selina Cerci from TSG Hoffenheim.
Mühlhaus will take part in the World Cup qualifiers on March 3rd in Dresden against Slovenia (5.45 p.m./ARD) and on March 7th in Norway (6 p.m./ZDF). The Hamburg native, who came to Werder Bremen from HSV in 2024, has so far only played for the German U23 team.
Her club coach Fritzy Kromp campaigned for Mühlhaus’ nomination several times. Kromp has good contacts as she herself worked for the DFB in the past.
Mühlhaus replaces, of all people, an ex-Bremen woman. Selina Cerci, who played in Bremen before her national team career, is out injured. The 25-year-old currently leads the Bundesliga top scorers list together with Leverkusen’s Vanessa Fudalla with twelve goals each.
