Atletico Madrid hosted Club Brugge in the 3-3 rematch of the UEFA Champions League play-offs. The Spanish representative won the match with a score of 4-1, in which Alexander Sörloth scored a hat-trick, and advanced to the last 16 rounds. Sörloth became the first Atletico Madrid player in the history of the Champions League to score a hat-trick in the post-group qualifying round. Atletico Madrid’s other goal came from Joao Cardoso in the 48th minute. Joel Ordonez scored the Belgian team’s only goal in the 36th minute.
