A post about tax administration ended up leading to a strong political and personal clash between Federico Sturzenegger and Jorge Rial on social network X.
The minister celebrated the progress in the automation of the VAT declaration and highlighted a recent resolution that, as he explained, brings the system closer to a scheme of almost automatic presentation of the tax. In his message, he praised the role of the collection agency, the Ministry of Economy and the minister Luis Caputoand linked these changes to the fiscal objective of managing Javier Milei.
“One of the objectives of any tax administration is that we can receive our tax return already prepared to just validate it,” wrote Sturzenegger, before detailing the impact of Resolution 5824/26 and celebrating the incorporation of expenses that were not previously integrated into the system.
However, the technical tone of the message was quickly displaced by a direct and aggressive response from Rial, which took the discussion to another level: “Has your wife returned the one you’re stealing? That’s the only thing we care about you explaining to us. And the five apartments you rent with ours for a ministry that doesn’t exist. Tweet about that, button”launched the driver.
The journalist’s comment alluded to a judicial complaint known in recent months, which involves Sturzenegger’s wife for a million-dollar contract signed by the Foreign Ministry with an organization that she presides.
The crossing exposed, once again, the tension between the ruling party’s discourse and the political and media complaints surrounding some of its officials. While Sturzenegger sought to install a message focused on fiscal efficiency and the modernization of the State, Rial focused on the pending judicial questions. The economist did not respond publicly to the driver’s message. The exchange, however, once again placed him at the center of the controversy, in a context where social networks function as the main stage for political, personal and media disputes.
