Ex-96 talent shines in the Champions League

He played for Hannover 96 for three years, and now he is convincing in the Champions League: Nicolo Tresoldi scores an important goal against Atlético Madrid – and is celebrated by the fans.
With no professional took Hannover 96 as much money as with him: Nicolo Tresoldi moved to FC Bruges in the summer of 2025 for 7.5 million euros. The 21-year-old now regularly faces European competition with the Belgian Cup winners – on Wednesday evening he even annoyed Atlético Madrid.
An intense game developed from the start. Bruges held up well against the “Rojiblancos”, but were 0-2 behind at the break. Shortly after the break, Tresoldi initiated the turnaround: after a corner, he came free to head the ball in the 51st minute. Atlético goalkeeper Jan Oblak made a save, but the rebound fell to Raphael Onyedika, who made it 1-2.
In the 60th minute, Tresoldi rewarded himself for his good performance. After a cross from the left, the attacker was in the right place in the penalty area and scored to equalize 2-2. When he was substituted after 76 minutes, the crowd celebrated his performance with applause and chants of “Nicolo Tresoldi, ohohohohoh.”
In the end both teams separated 3:3. The second leg next Tuesday in Madrid will decide who will advance to the round of 16 of the Champions League. Either Tottenham Hotspur or Liverpool FC are waiting there.
For Tresoldi, the move from the 2nd Bundesliga to Belgium has paid off so far. The U21 national player has already made 42 competitive appearances this season, often from the start. He scored twelve goals himself and prepared four more. According to the “Transfermarkt” portal, his market value is currently ten million euros.
