The right-back position is a permanent construction site at FC Bayern. Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax Amsterdam is now considered the record champion’s preferred candidate. The Moroccan, who is also traded at BVB, could turn out to be the ideal solution in many ways.
Sergino Dest, Pedro Porro, Ridle Baku, Jeremie Frimpong or Dodo: There is hardly any other position where so many names are traded around FC Bayern than on the right-back. However, the rumors about a possible signing of Noussair Mazraoui are currently the hottest.
The 24-year-old has found himself in the limelight at Ajax Amsterdam in recent months. The advantage: In contrast to the other options mentioned, Mazraoui’s contract ends at the end of the season, so he is available on a free transfer.
Only recently revealed “Bild” reporter Christian Falk in the podcast “Bayern Insider” that the Ajax professional at FC Bayern is “the first choice” for the back right.
The financial framework for a transfer has allegedly already been marked out. Mazraoui himself can well imagine a move to Munich. According to “Sky”, moving to Bayern Munich is a “serious option” for him.
BVB and Co. beaten out by FC Bayern?
But a commitment for the Bundesliga leader should not be that easy. After all, Mazraoui is always associated with FC Barcelona and BVB.
In order to lure the right-back to the Isar, FC Bayern has recently improved its offer to Mazraoui, according to “Sky”. However, the TV broadcaster did not name specific sums in this context.
The many speculations about his future show that Mazraoui has now made a name for himself internationally, mainly due to his strong performances in the Champions League. In the premier class, he played in all eight games for Ajax and recorded two assists.
FC Bayern wants to solve several problems at once
Meanwhile, the Dutch record champions hope to be able to convince Mazraoui to stay. Ajax coach Erik ten Hag would also trust his protégé to move to Bayern.
“If you can survive with Ajax in the Champions League, you can do the same in the Bundesliga,” said the 52-year-old on “Sport1”.
FC Bayern is apparently also convinced of this. Munich would like to solve several problems at once with a transfer of Mazraoui.
Because after the departures of David Alaba and Jérôme Boateng and the upcoming move from Niklas Süle to BVB, Munich actually need a new central defender.
FC Bayern will probably stop looking for a central defender
However, FC Bayern has stopped searching for information from “Sport Bild”. Accordingly, in the event of a possible commitment, those responsible are planning Mazraouis with Benjamin Pavard in the center of defence, where the 2018 world champion actually feels most comfortable.
“My best position is in central defence, it’s always been like that,” the 26-year-old told the “kicker” last December.
At FC Bayern, Pavard has been used almost exclusively as a right-back since his arrival in summer 2019.
The 26-year-old does his job on the defensive mostly confidently. In the game forward, the 1.86 meter tall defender has clear deficits.
FC Bayern: Is Serge Gnabry extending his contract?
Mazraoui, on the other hand, has a much more pronounced offensive drive – a characteristic that predestines him for the Bayern game under Julian Nagelsmann.
With a more offensively oriented right-back, Munich could even increase their chances of extending the contract with Serge Gnabry.
According to “Bild”, the national player, whose working paper is dated until 2023, is “annoyed” by his role as a rail player under head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
As a result, the 26-year-old – like teammate Leroy Sané – wants to have more action in the center. A strong offensive right-back could help Gnabry.
