Sabato De Sarno funds new fashion scholarships at IED University in Florence

Fashion designer Sabato De Sarno has launched two new scholarships for fashion design students at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Florence. The organizers confirmed this.

The scholarships cover 50 percent of the tuition fees for a period of up to three years. They are awarded to two scholarship holders who consistently achieve good academic performance.

De Sarno is known for his work as a creative director and designer. According to the company’s own statement, the initiative aims to expand access to fashion education and promote emerging talent. Interested candidates must submit a project by March 20th that illustrates their creative process from concept to final implementation.

Benedetta Lenzi, director of IED Florence, described the scholarships as a significant investment in the academic community. They are also an “important signal for the entire fashion system”. Lenzi emphasized that education plays a key role in strengthening the creative industry.

The scholarships are part of a broader collaboration between De Sarno and the IED. This also includes current research and performance projects with interdisciplinary student groups. The initiative underlines the ongoing commitment between fashion creators and fashion education in Italy.

In addition to his commitment to students and education, De Sarno is also dedicated to literature. Since his departure from Gucci, the designer has published a book with Cratera Publishing. Under the title “Napoli Infinita” it brings together the visions of 35 artists who deal with the Italian city.
