The theater director who retired from the Joensuu City Theater in 2009 died on Saturday, February 14. He was 80 years old when he died.
Ventola started his career at the Joensuu City Theater in the 1980s. His first direction at the Joensuu City Theater was the 1984 direction of Eeva-Liisa Manner’s play Burnt orange. Sofi Oksanen was the last director of Ventola Purifying.
Ventola was also active on the board of the North Karelia Theater Association in 2014–2021.
Ventola was born on January 21 in Valkeakoski. He studied dramatic literature and art history at the University of Helsinki and at the Finnish Theater School.
