Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are bringing their politically charged “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour to North America this spring for a series of arena and stadium dates. The opener will take place on March 31st in Minneapolis at the Target Center, the final will take place on May 27th at Nationals Park in Washington, DC Ticket sales begin on Friday.
Tour starts in Minneapolis
“We live in dark, disturbing and dangerous times, but don’t despair — the cavalry is coming!” Springsteen said in a statement. “Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will hit the stage this spring from Minneapolis to California to Texas to Washington, DC on the ‘Land of Hope And Dreams American Tour’.”

Last summer, Springsteen and the E Street Band played European stadiums on the first leg of the “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour. “The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock & roll in perilous times,” he told the audience on opening night.
“My homeland, the America I love, the America I have written about and which has been a beacon of hope and freedom for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous government. Tonight we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experience to stand with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring. This is ‘Land of Hope and Dreams.’
Political messages on stage
This happened before Donald Trump flooded Minneapolis with ICE officers, resulting in the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Springsteen responded to the tragedies with the protest song “Streets of Minneapolis,” which he performed on Jan. 30 during a surprise appearance at Tom Morello’s “A Concert of Solidarity & Resistance to Defend Minnesota!” played at the First Avenue club in Minneapolis.
Earlier that month, Springsteen made a guest appearance at the annual Light of Days benefit concert. “At the moment we are experiencing incredibly critical times,” he said that evening. “The United States, the ideals and the values it has stood for over the past 250 years, are being tested like never before in modern times. Those values and those ideals have never been more at risk than they are now.”
Clear words against Washington
“If you believe in the power of the law and that no one is above it,” he continued, “if you object to heavily armed, masked federal agents marching into an American city and using Gestapo tactics against our fellow citizens, if you believe that you do not deserve to be murdered for exercising your American right to protest, then send this president a message, as the city’s mayor said: ICE should get the hell out of Minneapolis.”
If Springsteen sticks to anything like the set list from last summer in Europe, expect plenty of politically tinged songs like “Rainmaker,” “Long Walk Home” and Bob Dylan’s “Chimes of Freedom.” It’s also almost certain that he will also play “Streets of Minneapolis.” The route itself sends a message by starting in Minneapolis and ending near Trump’s backyard in DC.
