Huub Stapel has made the decision: the actor will not sit at the table at Today Inside. A shame, says Bart Ettekoven. “It would be really nice television, because he blurts out everything.”
Wilfred Genee’s Today Inside is the most watched talk show in the Netherlands, but not everyone wants to be seen next to the right-wing oracle Johan Derksen. An additional problem is that the program is seen in progressive circles as misogynistic, so the Malou Petter-like people are expected not to sit there.
Always praising
Who would be a good fit for the show is Huub Stapel, says celebrity expert Bart Ettekoven. “They are always full of praise for Huub at VI and rightly so, because he is a fantastic actor and a fantastic person. He always makes me laugh so much. Honest, always good for some wonderful gossip,” he says in Show news.
“They have already shouted a few times: ‘Hey, come and sit at the table with us at VI.’ They think he is a nice guest. Well, he’s a bit unsure and doesn’t really know what to do. He also asked his brother and his brother said: ‘Don’t do that. You just stick to acting.’”
No merit
Huub confirms on the red carpet that he will indeed not be sitting at Johan’s table. “No, but that’s no merit. No. My brother always says, ‘You have to be careful not to become the hornet of the nation. Just concentrate on acting, because you already shout too much.’ So like that. I thought he was right about that.”
Bart concludes: “It would be really nice television, because he blurts out everything. Afterwards he probably has an argument with nine colleagues, but it is wonderful for us as viewers.”
