Lidl returns to the fashion world with another unexpected collaboration. The German discount chain has teamed up again with the New York design studio Nik Bentel, as both companies announced on Friday. Together, the partners are launching the “Trolley Bag,” a stainless steel handbag inspired by shopping carts that is set to debut during London Fashion Week.
Following the success of the ‘Croissant Bag’, which sold out in just two minutes, the new ‘Trolley Bag’ represents the second chapter in Lidl’s foray into luxury fashion. Crafted from industrial grade stainless steel, the bag faithfully recreates the look and feel of a supermarket shopping trolley, complete with traditional handle. There is also a coin key ring that can be connected to real Lidl shopping carts in the branches.
The accessory taps into the growing trend of utilitarian fashion, transforming everyday function into a high-fashion statement piece that blurs the lines between practicality and style. According to the retailer, the design allows wearers to “make every walk their runway.”
“We couldn’t resist the chance to team up with Lidl again,” said Nik Bentel, founder of Nik Bentel Studios. “It’s so exciting to transform the most unexpected items into fashion statements. The Lidl ‘Trolley Bag’ is our latest twist on the everyday grocery shopping experience and the ultimate shopping companion. It’s playful, practical and designed to stand out.”
The first opportunity to purchase the “Trolley Bag” will be at the “Lidl Fresh Drop”, a food-inspired pop-up event taking place on February 20th and 21st during London Fashion Week. Visitors can try their luck at a specially created “Fruit Machine” machine to win one of the limited edition bags. For those unable to attend the preview, a raffle will open on Thursday, February 26th at 10:00 a.m. via nikbentel.com where a limited number of bags will be available. Unlike Nik Bentel’s typically high-priced designs, the “Trolley Bag” is offered completely free of charge.
The collaboration marks a continuation of the partnership between Lidl and Nik Bentel Studio, which first launched the “Croissant Bag” in August 2025. This leather handbag, inspired by Lidl’s All Butter Croissant and styled like the brown paper bags found in stores, cost £50, with proceeds going to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
