Lidewij de Vos and her colleagues at the controversial political party Forum for Democracy were not happy about how she was treated during her appearance in the News of the Day program.
According to critics, it is a shame that News of the Day has given a platform to Lidewij de Vos, who has taken over from Thierry Baudet as leader of the controversial political party Forum for Democracy. However, according to presenter Thomas van Groningen, her presence in the studio should not be seen as an expression of support.
Fallacy
Thomas finds it lame that critics like Sander Schimmelpenninck are critical of this. “He has been very angry lately that we have had Lidewij de Vos as our guest twice. Moreover, we have tackled her quite harshly twice about the extreme right in her supporters,” says the presenter at the table at Today Inside.
He continues: “I still support the conversations we had with her. He just makes the mistake – also in that podcast – that if you invite someone to your program, you support it. From: you can visit us and so we support you. That is not the case at all.”
Very angry
Lidewij was simply interrogated in a critical manner, according to Thomas. “We dealt with her quite harshly and they were also very angry about that at Forum, that we had asked such critical questions.”
Wilfred Genee: “But Thomas, you are making a fairly right-wing sound, aren’t you? That is the truth, isn’t it?”
Thomas concludes: “Well, there are opinion makers like Wierd Duk at the desk and they sometimes say something. You could call that right-wing, yes.”
