Narrating the ice hockey games of Yle’s Olympic broadcasts Toni Saukkola has attracted the attention of Finnish viewers. On Wednesday, Saukkola explained the Finland-Slovakia game, which was won by Slovakia.
Saukkola says in his Instagram and Facebook posts that he has received more feedback on his narration than in the whole of last year.
– Thank you for the generous and encouraging feedback. It’s great to hear that the narration worked! Of course, there was still room for improvement and many seemed to wish that I would be even more biased. The beginning was tense, but then it relaxed – Jussi Jokinen made my job easy.

– You’re doing great, thank you.
– It was quality work as Leijonaää for the first time, very well done background work, it was nice to listen to.
– I listened to the commentary more than I watched the game. Dear Tony.
– The guy pulls very well! Just more jokes, even though Jokinen is not so in the mess.
– It’s so nice to hear a familiar voice explaining when you watch the matches. Sometimes, if the teams don’t matter to me, I’ll choose what I watch based on your commentary.
– Absolutely excellent work, I hope you will continue to explain value competitions in the future!
Saukkola is also praised in the Jodel chat application
– Well explained by Toni Saukkola.
– Saukkola is indeed a completely different man now, when explaining the League games.
Saukkola has become famous in recent years, especially in MTV’s SM league and Euro football broadcasts.
