The film is not directly based on real events, but according to the director, it was inspired by them. Nicot has narrated his film in the information material from the emergency shelter for teenagers, which he visited for his previous short film. Nicot was surprised that proven abused children defended their families and claimed they were victims of the justice system.

The creation of the film was also influenced by the director’s friend’s father, who worked as a youth worker. One day, only a 6-year-old girl became his client. He lived alone with his father. The father was suspected of incest.
– That’s how the idea of Dalva was born. I asked myself: what would that little girl be like as a teenager.
