Marco Fabbri and Charlène Guignard, a couple on and off the ice

They skate together and live together. Sharing everything is not easy, but Marco Fabbri and Charlène Guignard they have learned to separate what happens on the track from what stays at home. A rare balance, perhaps the real secret of their sporting and sentimental longevity. In an interview with Olympics.com, in view of Milan Cortina 2026 GamesFabbri tells it with great clarity: «It would be nice to achieve these results even on our own, but together it’s even betterbecause you share very strong emotions with the person you love, with whom you have chosen to spend your life. It’s something special».

Slow but very solid growth

Today they are firmly among the best couples in the world. But their path was not immediate. It took nine seasons before winning the first really important medals. A long wait, which has given even more value to the successes achieved in recent years. Accompanying them on this journey is Barbara Fusar Poli, Olympic bronze together with Maurizio Margaglio in ice dancing in Salt Lake City 2002. The Milan Cortina Games are a real one challenge for the couple it already has three Olympics behind him without medals. Twice they came very close: quarters in Team Event a Sochi 2014, fifths in ice dancing a Beijing 2022. «We didn’t want to continue just to be there», explained Fabbri a Olympics.com. «Being at the Games in Italy wasn’t enough. We really wanted to fight for a medal».

On the ice of Milan, the journey is not over yet

Their stylistic code is based on technical cleanliness and continuity of movement: nothing is broken, nothing is left to chance. They skate synchronized in harmony, with a constant flow that seems like a silent dialogue rather than a sequence of obligatory elements. The steps are precise, the changes of direction soft, the holds natural, never forced. After the bronze in the Team Event, Italy can legitimately hope for one second medal in figure skating. There free dance on Wednesday 11 February it will be the last act, the decisive one. And for Marco Fabbri and Charlène Guignard it will be yet another opportunity to demonstrate who I really am. In a world that often rewards excess, they win with subtraction: a conscious, mature beauty that doesn’t need frills to get noticed.
