Australia has banned the supply of wine, caviar, pearls and thoroughbred horses to Russia

Australian wines, thoroughbred horses and other luxury goods will not be able to enter Russia, Australian authorities said. The head of the Australian Foreign Ministry said that countries are doing “everything possible” to put pressure on Moscow

Australia will ban the export to Russia directly or indirectly of a number of “luxury items” as part of an additional package of sanctions, the list includes wines, works of art, tobacco products, truffles, thoroughbred horses, pearls, caviar with substitutes and crustaceans, according to site governments of the country.

Besides, will be banned are personal consumer electronics, furs, carpets, tapestries, eau de toilette and cosmetics, wristwatches, and handbags that cost more than $500 apiece. It will also be prohibited to export motorcycles, mopeds and bicycles (in whole or in parts) to Russia, together with spare parts for them, whose cost exceeds $7.5 thousand per piece.

The corresponding decision will come into force on Thursday, April 7.

“The important thing is that the international community is doing everything possible to hold Russia accountable,” said Foreign Minister Maris Payne, transmits West Australian edition. The minister added that last week the Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador to announce Canberra’s intention to continue “the expulsion of diplomats at the highest level.”
