It is a daring step: Roos Moggré has given up her safe job at EenVandaag to join Pauw & De Wit for two weeks. Is she the new Jeroen Pauw? “Or second fiddle?”
Roos Moggré is causing some surprises left and right by quitting her full-time position at EenVandaag for the opportunity to take over Pauw & De Wit for two weeks during the current Olympic Games. She did not receive a contract from BnnVara; she does this job on a freelance basis. She wanted that job so badly.
New chapter
It is a wonderful adventure, says Roos. She says in the VARA guide: “Yesterday I handed in my laptop and card at AVROTROS and when I walked away I thought: there, a new chapter. Exercise is progress and that gives me energy. Pauw & De Wit’s question came at a perfect time.”
She continues: “It’s good to train yourself in a new discipline every six or seven years, or so. Then you also remain more flexible in your head. I went from the region via Jeugdjournaal and morning TV to EenVandaag and latenight is a challenge. As a hostess, you are the binding agent and at the same time you try to keep the guests on their toes.”
Second fiddle
Even the interviewer from VARAgids expresses his doubts. “You will be filling in for both men. That sounds mediocre,” it sounds.
Roos then says: “The men are in a good place there and I consciously chose the freelancer role to get some air in my schedule. I am working on a book, I am writing columns – I fill my days and that feels perfect for now. But there is the intention on both sides to do more.”
Flow
Does she have any contact with Jeroen Pauw and Tim de Wit at all? Yes, she says. “I recently looked over Jeroen’s shoulder one evening and I admire his agility and flexibility and I try to go along with that flow.”
“I have known Tim for years; we did the same study and follow each other’s work. The fact that we are now colleagues is very nice. And that man has knowledge of foreign countries, which is not normal. I think we complement each other very well as a team.”
