Taisto-Bertil Orsmaa has died

Theater influencer Taisto-Bertil Orsmaa has died at the age of 84. The passing away can be seen from the death notices of Tampere parishes.

Born in Rovaniemi, Orsmaa directed around a hundred theater performances, auditions and television works during his career, such as Outi Pakkanen’s book based Look behind the mask –series (1988) and Pentti Kirstilän Goosebumps-based on the novel Farewell to a loved one series (1993) .

Orsmaa was one of the founders of the Group Theatre, and he also served as its artistic director. He also worked as a theater director at Turku City Theatre, Vaasa City Theater and Tampere Työväen Theatre.

In addition, he worked as a researcher and teacher. He also wrote theater and TV reviews for various magazines.

During his long career, Orsmaa received several honors, such as the Nordic Listening Award in 1975 and the Thalia Award in 1977 and 1981.
