Transfer confusion ended

The confusion surrounding Borussia Mönchengladbach’s offensive talent Can Armando Güner has taken a positive turn. Galatasaray confirmed the 18-year-old’s signing on Thursday for a fee of 350,000 euros. According to previous reports, bonuses could add another 100,000 euros. In Turkey the transfer market is open until Friday.
According to the Turkish radio station “HT Spor”, the Gladbachers wanted to secure a resale share, but Galatasaray rejected this. Since Güner’s contract with Gladbach was only valid until the summer, Gladbach did not have the best basis for negotiations. If they had changed in July, the foals would have only received training compensation of 150,000 euros.
It was already said at the beginning of January that Güner was about to move to Istanbul. The Argentina youth international had already arrived at Istanbul Airport to sign a contract with Galatasaray. Gladbach in turn explained that no offer had been received from the Turks, whereupon Güner came back to Germany.
Güner’s advisor Mehmet Eser then confirmed on “Sky” that they had tried several times to get in touch with the club to inform about the trip to Istanbul. However, those responsible did not call back. “I’m not happy with how the club treated such a young person. I can’t stand by and see false allegations being made about a young player,” said Eser. At Galatasaray, Güner is expected to receive a contract until 2031.
Along with Wael Mohya, Güner was considered one of the greatest talents in the foal stable. The Krefeld native moved from FC Schalke to Niederrhein in 2019 and was a regular in Gladbach’s U17 championship team last season. In the final against RB Leipzig he became the match winner with two goals after coming on as a substitute. He is currently in the U19 squad, where he scored four goals and prepared three more in 15 games. Werder Bremen and TSG Hoffenheim were also rumored to be interested in Güner, but he decided to move to his father’s home country. Since Güner’s mother has Argentine roots, he is eligible to play at national team level for Germany, Argentina and Turkey. After playing for the DFB in the U16 and U17 teams, he was part of Argentina’s squad at the U17 World Cup in November.
