Singer Claude was allowed to sing a song in Arjen Lubach’s troubled satire show yesterday, but he was not allowed to sit at the desk. That would cost too many viewers…
TV satirist Arjen Lubach has been plagued by a whirlwind of critical opinions since his switch to RTL 4. It doesn’t help that his linear viewing figures have fallen sharply since he is no longer on the country’s most watched TV channel, NPO 1. In fact, figures from TV authority Tina Nijkamp show that it is all very disappointing.
Claude has to stand
What clearly doesn’t help Arjen if he wants high viewing figures is sticking to those lame celebrity conversations he used to have. He had singer Claude in the show last night, but he had to remain standing.
Tina writes about it on her analysis channel: “Lubach intervened during his part ‘Celebrity Visiting’. Previously, many viewers walked away from that part. Claude was not allowed to sit at the desk but was briefly interviewed STANDING. How did that go in terms of viewing figures?”
Not a high score
Unfortunately not so good, according to Tina. And that without commercial breaks. “It may cost a bit at RTL 4. Lubach and RTL Tonight have had zero commercial blocks this entire week. This normally amounts to three blocks between 10 p.m. and 11.30 p.m. This week, in terms of money, it is already a matter of missing many tons.”
“Is it paying off in terms of viewing figures? Not really, unfortunately: Lubach has 620 thousand viewers, RTL Tonight only 348 thousand.”
