“Suicide? The family doesn’t actually believe that. He talked about returning to Belgium.” The lawyer of Omer K. (40) is clear. Her client – who defrauded dozens of families in our country of more than 2 million euros – died in Istanbul in suspicious circumstances. Suicide was the police’s first idea. But Turkish investigators now also doubt this. And so the question arises: was the hard-nosed con man Omer K. murdered by one of his victims?
