US rapper Jay-Z is currently at the center of a controversy surrounding the latest releases of the Epstein files. His name is mentioned in these, which is why he is now in the public eye. His wife Beyoncé also feels the unfavorability of the (social media) world. This is particularly evident in the couple’s Instagram followers.
Victim report names Jay-Z
On January 30, 2026, the US Department of Justice released a new, enormous batch of the Jeffrey Epstein files. A total of three million documents were released. The names of the rappers Jay-Z and Pusha T are also included in a tip to the FBI. A victim report is particularly explosive, which states that a victim found himself in a room in which Jay-Z was also after being drugged and abused. These reports now have consequences for the 56-year-old and those around him on social media.
The number of followers shrank so much
Almost overnight, both musicians lost a large part of their Instagram reach and millions of fans unfollowed them. Beyoncé saw her number of followers shrink from 320 million to 307 million. For her husband, the number was reduced from 4.4 million to one million.
The fact that the rejection of their fans is connected to the rapper’s naming in the Epstein files is shown in the comments of both artists. Both Jay-Z’s recent post and that of his wife are full of comments on the topic. On Shawn Carter’s account, his real name, there is only one post left that shows a trailer for the film “The Book of Clarence,” which was released in January 2024. The New York native has to take a lot of punishment under this. Some users insulted him as “Pedo”, one person wrote: “Is this on your friend’s island?” This is a reference to Epstein Island, where many of the crimes of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein took place.
It’s a similar story with Beyoncé. Even in her most recent post, the comments section is full of the Epstein topic. So one person asked, “Did you know about your husband?”
Another user accuses her: “You’re done. You knew about it and covered for him.” To date, there has been no official statement from either Jay-Z or Beyoncé about being named in the Epstein files.
