Several organizations operating under Mette-Marit’s patronage demand an investigation from the Norwegian court into the crown princess’ Epstein connections, says VG.
At least four organizations have sent an open letter to the Norwegian court demanding an investigation into Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s connections with Jeffrey Epstein. After completing the investigations, the organizations will reassess the continuation of cooperation with Mette-Marit.
Mette-Marit acts as patron of all four organizations.
The clarification request has been sent jointly by Førde Festival, Hamsundagene and Nynorsk Cultural Center.
– The new information about the crown princess’s connections with sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein, which were announced on January 30, appear serious and worrying, states the joint statement of the three organizations.
– From the point of view of our continued cooperation, it is important that the Royal House gives a thorough explanation of the matter.
In addition, the International Fosse Festival sent theirs:
– In terms of our continued cooperation, it is important that the Crown Princess and the Royal Household clarify the whole matter and all communication with Jeffrey Epstein. Until we know more, we think the matter is the responsibility of the Crown Princess and the Royal Household.
The Red Cross said on Wednesday that it will make a thorough assessment of the matter once the situation has been clarified.
– The matter becomes topical if essentially new information comes to light or when the parties involved have given a good explanation of this matter. It is important for the Red Cross that more light be shed on the matter. Only the participants themselves can influence that, says the director of communications and social relations of the Red Cross Andreas Bjørnstad for VG.
– We are following the matter and we are having a dialogue with the court, he added.
Mette-Marit has reportedly met Epstein between 2011 and 2013. PDO
According to VG, Mette-Marit currently works as a patron in no less than 21 organizations, several of which are now considering ending cooperation.
The newspaper was in contact with several organizations on Tuesday, who said they were waiting for more information and answers from the royal house before making a decision on whether they still want Mette-Marit as their patron.
VG has also asked the court what kind of dialogue they have with organizations considering a patronage role, and whether the crown princess intends to issue a statement in the near future. So far, Hovi has not responded to the inquiry.
The first organization to end cooperation is Sex og Samfunn, Norway’s largest center promoting sexual health and rights, which announced on Monday that it was ending cooperation with the crown princess.
So far, four of the 21 organizations have told VG that they do not intend to stop working with the Crown Princess.
Mette-Marit is mentioned in the Epstein files more than a thousand times. The Crown Princess herself commented on the connections to NRK briefly at the weekend.
– I have to take responsibility for not checking Epstein’s background better and for not understanding quickly enough what kind of person he was.
